On May 23, at one of the round table discussions “Educational Projects for New Energy” the participants discussed new educational programs and products developed for the needs of the renewable energy industry. The round table was moderated by Olga Ukhanova, R&D program manager of Altren, LLC/head of the Specialized Department of “Wind Energy Technologies” founded by Ulyanovsk State Technological University together with Ulyanovsk Nanocenter. The discussion was attended by the representatives of RUSNANO, Bauman Moscow State Technology University, Kazan State Energy University, MIPT, Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO, St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Department of Economics and Science of the German Embassy in Moscow.

Renewable energy is one of the fastest growing industries in the world, consistently showing an increase in employment – about 1.5 million jobs in various sectors of renewable energy are created annually. This is a new industry for Russia. According to experts, the current RES generation support program will create from 8 to 12 thousand jobs in Russia. For successful launch of renewable energy generation in Russia, it is vital to have qualified personnel with the necessary knowledge and practices. The Universities and companies shared their experience in teaching students, training program cases in the field of alternative energy and development plans.

The round table discussion resulted in the decision to create a consortium of universities implementing educational programs in the field of renewable energy. The consortium will coordinate the development of this new area of training, professional standards, joint projects in the field of transfer of educational programs and international cooperation.

The second session was devoted to the development of renewable energy for the Arctic.

“The discussion was about the prospects of RES development in the remote areas, including the Arctic and isolated territories. The participants discussed the activities of commercial market players, R&D companies, and the steps of the regulator and customers – municipal energy generating companies and large grid companies,”- noted Dmitry Stepanov, Deputy CEO of Altren, LLC.

Year 2019 is announced as a year of Package EnergyNet Pilot Projects under the framework of National Technology Initiative. A package pilot project is a solution of a specific problem in the energy saving segment in the specific territory, the whole package of measures are used to resolve such a problem – new technologies, organization and business arrangements, economical interrelations, regulatory legal acts.

Altren, as a constant participator of the workgroup for development of solutions based on autonomous hybrid energy systems for isolated areas, participated at the session “Implementation of Package EnerdgyNet Pilot Projects in the Regions Through the Example of the Ulyanovsk Region”. The discussion touched advantages in implementation of integrated pilot projects in the regions for robust power supply packages, demand management technology, industrial energy storage systems, and energy supply of isolated territories.
