Human Resources is the Key to Organizational Success” at the forum "Wind Energy 2018

On 16 -17 May, Ulyanovsk hosted the International Investment Forum “Wind Energy 2018”. The first day of the Forum brought together about two hundred professionals representing energy companies, wind farms, scientific and research organizations, federal government and regions. The Forum was held with the support of the Government of Ulyanovsk Region, the organizers are Vostock Capital and Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation.



One of roundtable discussions “Human Resources is the Key to Organizational Success” was organized by the Ulyanovsk nanocenter ULNANOTECH. The participants brainstormed effective strategies aimed at attraction, training and retention of personnel in the industry.  The representatives of the Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs of RUSNANO, National University of Science and Technology “MISiS”, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Ulyanovsk State Technical University, Kazan State Power Engineering University, Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Center for Cluster Development of the Ulyanovsk region, Lucas-Nülle GmbH were engaged in the discussion.

The universities and companies shared their experience in renewable energy education, educational program cases and plans for development.  Such essential topics as motivation and retention of qualified personnel in the region, training of professionals for a new wind power industry were discussed.  Renewable energy education will have huge potential for training of professionals for alternative energy projects in the regions throughout of Russia.

Olga Ukhanova, moderator of the discussion and manager of educational programs department of Ulyanovsk Nanocenter ULNANOTECH pointed out that the location of the wind farm in the close vicinity of Ulyanovsk and the wind power department of Ulyanovsk State Technical University would provide the regional students with top-quality teaching to a profession as well as with the skills and knowledge to advance to a higher education degree.  Thus, the region would have an advantage in obtaining more qualified personnel for the industry.

The roundtable participants came up with a decision for further joint collaboration and network cooperation in the development of integrated training programs for wind energy.
